In 2002, The Infinite Hallway came out with their first release, Breathe Chemical. The band, consisting of brothers Gabriel & Johnny Crane, Danielle Brooks, & William Harper, was a slow-growing hit with the indie scene. With their second release, The Minotaur Was a Cannibal, they burst into mainstream radio and stunned audiences with their mix of pop-punk music & tangled, poetic lyrics written by frontman Gabriel Crane. The Infinite Hallway take their name from an EP by Not Famous. Casey Martinez, vocalist of Not Famous, is one of Crane's oldest friends; her bandmates Adam Langley & Joel Brandt are also named among Crane's "favorite people in the f--king world."

Breathe Chemical was released on Missionary Records, a local label run by Gabriel Crane's longtime friend Jennifer Kinney. However, for the release of Minotaur, the band moved to Sub-Pop; allegedly, a dispute with Harper and his departure from the band caused the move.

The Infinite Hallway often collaborate with Kinney, better known for her solo EP Our Mistakes & Yours. They are also frequently joined by backup guitarist Sandra Villanueva & keyboarder Ben Slater. A third, highly-anticipated release is planned for late 2005.

The Infinite Hallway Project is a series of vignettes based around the increasingly shifting life of Gabriel Crane. In reality, Gabriel has never even recorded a demo. He lives in a run-down apartment with Jen, his old friend. He, his brother, and a few friends played with the idea of being a band, but never got off the ground.

One day, growing dissatisfied with his relationship with Jen, Gabriel takes too much acid and begins hallucinating. What comes through his head is the Infinite Hallway - a series of lives he never had and never will, but lives that becomes increasingly real to him. And as they grow real, they begin to disturb him more and more.

The Infinite Hallway Project is an attempt to pin down moments from the worlds floating through Gabriel's head. The project is friends-only, as one day, I hope to publish it as a novel. It is based off a series of RPS fics. However, as the project goes on, it's going to pull away from that increasingly; those of you here via my fics might not want to join if original fiction isn't your thing.

Because of the origin of the project, & my interest in the meta-discussion aspect of fandom, there will also be the occasional public post on fandom, both RPS & fictional. There might also be meta-posts on why I am doing the project, & how I think it relates to fandom. If those interest you, discussion would be fantastic. The project is, to me, as much about the idea of writing as it is about writing itself.

This starts now. We'll see where it goes from here.

Current project goal: Rewriting old fics to suit the new universe, & reposting them. [Wow, that'll be way easier for some than it will be for others...]
